feeling bookish
Love Love Love this ballroom wedding inspired by literature. The decorations: BOOKS!
From the Bride: Following the ceremony, guests were greeted by bookcases filled with a beautiful array of fabric covered books in complimentary floral patterns and ticking stripes that we had gathered. No two books were the same which added an element of surprise and an additional conversation piece for the guests! On the spine of the books read the guest’s names and the title escorted them to their tables. Neatly tucked in each book was also a hand made fabric bookmark that served as favors made by the groom’s mother of the corresponding fabrics we had found.

la boheme
Lately, intricate headpieces are all the rage in bridal couture. La Boheme offers timeless pieces that really make a statement. Bridal boutiques offer similar headpieces at a staggering $500 and up price tag, but creative Etsy designers like La Boheme offer those same pieces for a fraction of the cost.
A word from Lo Boheme…
We are the wife-husband team of Lauren (Lo) and Josh Christensen based out of a tiny 1920’s bungalow in San Diego who specialize in one of a kind and custom accessories for weddings, special events, or everyday wear. The Lo Boheme aesthetic is inspired by the details of eras past; whether it be French Bohemianism of the late 1800’s, the detailed lines of the Art Nouveau movement, or the glamor of Old Hollywood. It is the delicate feminine sophistication from these times, coupled with Lo’s modern eye that produce unique yet wearable statement head pieces.
The pieces above are from Lo’s brand new Spring collection which should be in her shop by the end of the week. She is also currently offering Once Wed readers 10% off their purchases on everything in her shop (except custom orders) from now through April 15th. Simply enter “once wed” in the notes to seller section at checkout to get the discount.

Tsunami Kanzashi – Japanese Hair Blooms
These beautiful blooms are the result of an ancient Japanese tradition known as Tsumami Kanzashi (the art of pinching luxurious silks into flower-shaped hair ornaments). Atelier Kanawa makes both traditional & modern Tsumami Kanzashi and was professionally trained by one of the only 15 acknowledged Tsumami Kanzashi artisans in Japan. Not only are these flowers the continuation of a beautiful and ancient tradition, but the folded version will last forever. If your from a Japanese family or plan to marry into a Japanese family, wearing one or a bunch of these blooms in your hair would be a wonderful way to acknowledge Japanese heritage. If you are just a huge lover of art, history, or fashion – all the more reason to give these gorgeous blooms a go.
