25 Sunglasses on a Budget

I’m a fiend for sunglasses.  I cannot walk out of my house without grabbing a pair for the day and there are usually at least three pairs waiting on my kitchen counter (my husband loves that!)  There may or may not be two more pairs in my car’s glove compartment. But a sunglasses habit can get expensive, and because Spring has finally arrived, I’ve turned my attention to brighter, funkier pairs of sunglasses … on a budget.  First on my list, a great nude pair and a funky printed wayfarer.  And though I have no real need for these Anthropologie Barnegat shades, I can’t easily pass such a retro chic (and affordable) pair up.

Arhaus Jewels + Borrowing From Mom

Arhaus-Jewels-Miami-Lexi_-glitterinc.com

My mom has always been this ironic mix of caregiver and ruler of the family (strong and organized … and totally impressive), and free-spirited flower child.  My brothers and sister and I always joke that the day she retires, really retires, she’ll start growing out her straw-colored blonde hair, braid it to the floor, and take to gardening, sewing, and rescuing stray animals.  Actually, scratch that, she already does all that, but we make her wear shoes … and cut her hair.  She’s always had this hippie-esque aesthetic, neutral tones mixed in with vibrant colors, a big fan of polished silvers and earthy stones, my sister and I always giggle about the cooky jewelry and dresses she buys, and then we steal them from her closet when she’s not looking.  So when Arhaus Jewels approached me with their beautiful catalog of earth-toned jewels, hammered metals, leather wrap bracelets, and a few big bold statement pieces – created by a variety of artists and jewelry makers, I thought instantly of my mom, and also considered that maybe, just maybe, I could lay off “borrowing” her jewels if I had a few of my own.  Of course, I chose a handful of the edgier pieces to suit my style, while embracing some of the more natural aspects – leather (which I love!), big chunks of turquoise, and hammered gold – but something tells me I won’t get to keep my picks for very long.

Poshlocket Baubles

A few weeks ago Poshlocket reached out to me and sent over a couple of great jewels to play with. If you haven’t heard of Poshlocket, it’s time to get acquainted. Poshlocket offers up affordable baubles that are so very on-trend. Over the weekend I took my new gold bracelets and skull ring out for a spin, and I’m in love.  I got so many compliments on my Mcqueen-esque double skull ring and the spike bracelets are a sure part of my future arm party.

Playing Tourist (+ Target Style)

On Saturday, we played tourist for a day and headed south – way south – to the Redlands.  I used our little weekend outing as an excuse to try out my new Target ombré dip dye scarf.  And fun fact, I’ve been chosen to be a part of Target’s style team, scouting out the hottest trends.  Be on the lookout over the next few weeks for posts full of Target style, and very soon, a super exciting trip to Target’s headquarters!  (Oh yeah, seriously pumped!  But more on that later.) It was bizarrely cold in Miami this weekend, so I got the chance to bundle up, and bundle up I did!

First stop, Knaus Berry Farms, known for their incredible homemade sticky buns, strawberry milkshakes, and a line down the street to prove it.

The sticky buns are wholly worth the wait …
