Off to Altitude Design Summit

alt-salt-lake-city

As part of my new year’s resolutions, I’m vowing to take a few leaps of faith, to bet more on myself, and to invest in the future that I want.  And with that, I’ll be attending my first ever Alt Summit in Salt Lake City.

I’m admittedly nervous – first-day-of-school jitters and all.  I feel a bit out of my league with so many talented designers, bloggers, planners, editors, and so on.  But I’m going to put on my brave face and my sparkliest (yet practical … lol) heels, and do this thing.  Today hubby and I will be flying from Miami to Salt lake City where I imagine we will freeze our butts off.  Tomorrow I’ll be in all-day lectures geared towards crafting a better blog and brand.  Same goes for the rest of the week.

I’ll do my best to keep you all posted! In the meantime, follow my adventures on Twitter and Instagram (both are @glitterinclexi).

Little Love Notes

Dear Gainesville, it’s been awhile!  (I’ve been in Gainesville – Go Gators! – since Wednesday, moving my baby sister into college.  It feels so crazy to be back in my college town: one minute I feel young and nostalgic, and the next I feel ancient!  When did Freshman start to look like babies?)

Dear 2013, it’s so nice to meet you.  I’ve got my resolutions down, and a lot of big goals on the horizon, so here’s to a great new year.

Dear Type-A organizers, speaking of the new year, do you have a planner or day diary you swear by?  I got a MyAgenda a few months back but after seeing the new 2013 Kate Spade planner, I’m seriously considering a second agenda.  Thoughts?

Dear treehouse, be mine.

Dear Steven (the sophisticated brain child of Steve Madden), your newest motorcycle booties are calling my name.  Deciding between this studded pair and this moto pair.

Dear Lisa of Elembee fame, thank you so much for having me in your brand new “Across the USA” series!  I’m talking all things Maine, including where to eat, where to shop, and where to get married (you know, just in case).

Day-in-the-life: Blogshop #Lumix

Over the weekend I finally got the chance to attend Blogshop.  (Cue me jumping up and down with joy.)  For anyone with a creative blog, business, or both, Blogshop is a must.  I brought along my new Panasonic Lumix to document the weekend-long class and I was so glad I did.  Bri and Angela, founders and teachers of Blogshop, make it a point to find a unique and original space for each and every Blogshop.  Miami’s venue didn’t disappoint.  Held at Red1 Studios in Midtown (a.k.a., the Art District of Miami), the airy space was every inch modern and bright.  Floor-to-ceiling windows, exposed cement ceiling, a huge balcony with a view of downtown Miami, and tables and chairs set up for some seriously creative work, were ready and waiting.  Our reusable water bottles, bright floral centerpieces, and hot pink mouse pads, were the perfect addition to our piles of technology.  (We cluttered any remaining space with laptops, a mouse, a Wacom tablet, notebooks, pens, snacks, etc.)

Little Love Notes

Well this weekend just crept right up on me!  And Thanksgiving is a mere days away … uh oh.  Please send dessert suggestions …

Now on to this week’s little love notes:

Dear Zsa Zsa Gabor, you’re brilliant, darling.

Dear Mindy Kaling, I’m completely smitten with you and your new show, The Mindy Project.  The lines are great – “If we are indulging in imaginary situations I would love to introduce you to my husband, straight Anderson Cooper.”, you rock Madewell, Wildfox, and Herve Leger, and you seem totally normal (well, the extended cool side of normal.)  Also, I’m so proud to see a girl with a badunkadunk in a bandage skirt.  (Though I’m still not going there. #chicken)

Dear fellow bloggers, if you haven’t read Erin Loechner’s post, “Why I Blog,” take the time and read it over the weekend.  She basically tracks the evolution of her blogging career, and you’ll finish the article in complete awe.

Dear Everygirl, loving your Coffee Talk posts – especially this week’s on the elusive “happy weight”.  Do you obsess over your weight or are you more of an if-the-jeans-button kind of girl?  Is there such a thing as weight you’re happy at?
