Mesh Booties (for the Obsessed)

Hi, I’m Lexi, and I’m addicted to boots.  And every Spring, I fight the urge to wear boots on the hottest of days (in Miami), and usually, the urge wins … I wear my boots, and get funny stares.  But lo and behold, Phillip Lim goes and designs the perfect mesh boots – stunning, modern, on-trend, and breathable, my love affair can continue.  By the way, if you don’t suffer from my extreme boot separation anxiety, the 3.1 Phillip Lim D’Orsay mesh pumps are equally gorgeous for Spring.  Do you do boots for Spring and Summer?

Spring Vacation Sandals

I’ve been patiently awaiting the arrival of Spring so that I could re-introduce my wardrobe to sandals.  (I should probably point out here that though I know we don’t get much of a winter here in Miami, to feel apart of the current fashion trends, I make like a northerner all winter long and rock boots and pumps most days.  Oh who am I kidding?  I’m addicted to boots.  No excuses necessary.)  But each Spring, some seriously covet-worthy sandal styles come out, and I inevitably scoop up a handful of pairs.  And this year, with a trip to Europe on my horizon, I’m dreaming in sweet sandals, long dresses and skirts, and it seems high time to start sandal shopping.

When I pack sandals for travel, I’m looking for day-time comfort and chic night-time styles that I can wear over and over again, plus plenty of height.  And those Tribal Wedge Sandals?  They will be mine!

The Look for Less: d’Orsay Flats

d'orsay flats look for less budget _ glitterinc.com

I’ve fallen hard for Jenni Kayne’s d’Orsay flats.  First introduced in 2012, the boldly cut flat is as close to a “sexy” flat as I’ve seen, and I’ve had a hankering for them for months now.  The d’Orsay flat has quickly become a fashion favorite, and has been spotted on celebrities like Jessica Alba, Emma Roberts, and Mandy Moore.  They’re those flats you never knew you needed but suddenly really really want.  (Sorry about that!)  Thankfully, a few seasons later, and just in time for Spring, the d’Orsay has been recreated by several different brands, and many are much more affordable options (my budget thanks you, fab designers!)

Fashion 101: Cold-Weather Boots

winter wear cold-weather boots snow _ glitterinc.com

In less than twenty days, I’ll be flying to Salt Lake City for AltSummit (insert happy dance, here), and according to weather.com it should be in the low 20s just in time for our arrival. Tonight it’s 12 degrees there. I am a Miami girl, born and raised. We break out our Uggs (because they’re the only cold-weather footwear we own), scarves, and Zara coats, the minute the temperature drops to a frigid sixty-eight degrees. Our skin was just not made for cold weather. Nor were our closets. Which brings me to this: There is a whole world of fashion I never knew about — cold-weather wear.

I actually went to Nordstrom this past weekend with the intention of buying a pair of boots that may actually survive that thing called snow, and get this, Miami Nordstroms do not carry Sorel, or Sperry, or any warm shoes, for that matter. Miami also doesn’t sell lined anything. And apparently, that soft fluffy stuff traditional Uggs are made of, that’s not going to cut it in cold, wet snow. Who knew?  So I’m on the hunt for a heavy-duty pair of winter boots.

Boot picks from left to right, top to bottom:  Hunter for J. Mendel Boots // Sperry Albatross Boots // Sorel Conquest Carly Boots // Ugg Lilyan Boots // Sorel Joan of Arctic Premium Boots // Sorel Tofino Boots // Sorel Caribou Boots // Sorel Tivoli Boots // Ugg Adirondack Boots

So for those cold-weather farers, what boots do you wear?  Which keep your feet the warmest?  Any recommendations?
