Closet Refresh + Spring Cleaning
I recently stumbled upon a great article in Lucky Magazine all about spring cleaning, and I realized (much to my horror), that it had been ages since I had done a major overhaul/purge. And now, with the impending move to a new, and likely smaller place, it seems I may have to get serious about downsizing, organizing, and letting go of the beaded crop tops circa 1999 (yep, it’s that bad.)
I should start by sharing an important detail about the madness that is my storage situation: I am a memory hoarder. I can’t throw anything away. And when I try to throw away, I find myself four hours in, sitting on the floor amidst piles of pictures, Rocket Dogs (yeah 90s shout-out), and his and hers high school class rings (oh yes, hubby and I have been together that long!) So because it’s Spring – and long overdue, and because moving is on the agenda, I’m going to try to tackle the clutter, room by room.

Organized Creative: The Budget Babe
Dianna Baros of The Budget Babe has built her very own blogging empire, with the girl-on-a-budget in mind. Her goal: helping readers look “fab without a fortune.” The Budget Babe’s breakdown of celebrity looks for less are my favorite, since I basically want to dive into some combination of Rachel Bilson, Reese Witherspoon, Ashley Tisdale, and Kourtney Kardashian’s wardrobes at all times. Check out how Dianna stays organized and gets it all done …
1. Take us through a busy day in the life of a full-time blogger.
Email, research and write mid-day post, more email, research and write afternoon post, email, research and write the next day’s morning post. Mix in a healthy dose of tweeting, instagramming, phone calls and field research aka shopping!
2. What’s your go-to day-to-day planner of choice? Are you a pen-to-paper kind of girl or is it all technology for you?
I hand write daily to-do lists; the rest is on my iPhone. I depend on iCal and Google calendar.
3. What one tech accessory can you not live without?
Definitely my iPhone and my MacBook Pro. That’s two, oops!
4. Is your organization more OCD or organized chaos?
Organized chaos. Sometimes just chaos.

The Paper Planner/Agenda
So it’s no secret that I’m a freak for organization. Starting a shiny new planner makes me unbelievably happy. Yes, you heard that right — I actually relish in starting to fill in the blank pages of a brand new agenda. So this past year, when I decided to go fully digital – iPhone, iPad, laptop – check – I thought, this can work – technology is grand … or so they say. But truth be told, I’ve been miserable. And.I.can’t.Stay.Organized. Which is the biggest problem. I can never get all of my techy calendars to sync up, plus I hardly know how to sync to begin with. I’m also scribbling ideas and to-do lists on post-its all-day-long, and it’s a bit tough attaching stickies to my iPhone screen. I miss my agenda …
Thinking of going back to a paper planner. I just can’t get down with the digital. Thoughts?
