Best of: Spring Trends

8 COMMENTSI have to say, Target has really hit every major trend this season, and I can’t get enough. From floral prints to lace, and plenty of bright color mixed in, I’ve had a hard time not picking up at least a piece or two every time I visit Target (which is surprisingly often since I pick my husband up every day where his metro comes in from the hospital; read: addicted.)
This Spring, my favorite trends so far:
- Florals. I’m a girly girl, so floral prints kind of sing at me. I also love the mix of mod and antique floral prints lately. {Merona® Women’s Doubleweave Pencil Skirt … obsessed with this print! // Merona Floral Crossbody Handbag // Prabal Gurung For Target® Skirt in Meet the Parents Print // Merona® Women’s Oxford Blazer in Brown Floral}
- Patterns. In addition to the floral prints, patterns are having a big moment; think stripes, chevron, polka dots, and more. {Merona® Women’s Cropped Linen Blazer in Navy Stripe // Merona® Zig-Zag Stripe Clutch}
- Bright color (and more color), color-blocking, bold matte color lipsticks, bright manicures, you name it. {Sonia Kashuk for Target Spring 2013}
- Lace. This might be one of my favorite trends this season. I love the touches of lace on blouses, skirts, dresses. {Prabal Gurung For Target® Lace Overlay Top … this top is a must! // Mossimo® Women’s Lace Front Peplum Top}
- Animal prints (because let’s be serious, those never go out of style). {Xhilaration® Leopard Overlay Dress // Merona® Leopard Print Calf Hair Belt // Women’s Mossimo Osanna Flat in Leopard}
And thankfully, another big trend this spring: mixing sprints; so go boldly forth with your crazy prints, and find some of your season’s staples at Target!
It’s Time for Springtime.

15 Adorable Versions of the LBD
Posted on April 4, 2013 by Lexi
16 COMMENTSThe beauty of the hunt for the perfect little black dress is that there are so many of them. So even though you may have stumbled across a truly perfect little black dress, nothing’s stopping you from finding another one. (errr, if your budget so allows it … But I continue to swoon.) I also totally believe that there is a little black dress for every different occasion. Which would explain the abundance in my closet. I promise you when I walk into a department store or boutique, on the hunt for a dress that fits the bill for the latest upcoming event, I have every good intention of finding something outside the box (well, my LBD box), but try as I might, nine times out of ten, I’m walking out with a new black dress. Am I the only one? What can I say — I’m in a torrid love affair with the LBD.

The Man Behind The Blog, etc.
Posted on April 3, 2013 by Lexi
14 COMMENTSLast night my husband looked at me and said, “I’m glad I get to be the man behind your blog.” I melted right there on the sofa and was reminded for the ten millionth time why I love him so much. He also insisted that the amount of time it takes me to instagram food leaves him starving most nights and that he still doesn’t get Facebook. Check out Mike’s interview over on Victoria’s blog today, as he talks the roller-coaster-ride that is blogging, social media, and other nerdy science stuff. (And P.S., there’s also a fun little surprise announcement in Victoria’s post … told you I had big things in store. #thebbar)
You can also check out my Oh, So Glam Q&A where I’m sharing all things glamour on the Glam site (i.e., “Glamour is a great pair of heels and red lipstick. It’s two parts confidence, one part great accessories.“), and I’m talking about my favorite {edgy} flats on Sam’s blog in her adorable series, Fashionistas in Flats.

The Perfect Work Bag
Posted on April 2, 2013 by Lexi

I’ve been a real live grown-up for more than three years now, and one of the trickiest things about being a working girl – aside from doing your own laundry, taxes, and figuring out what’s for dinner – is finding the perfect work bag. Any working girl will tell you, the perfect work carryall is bizarrely hard to come by. Sometimes you find the perfect bag, but it’s just too heavy, or worse, professional-looking, without any fashion at all. Here are my criteria for the perfect work bag:
- Style. An ugly bag is an ugly bag is an ugly bag.
- Weight — this is a big one for me. I always fall head-over-heels in love with big, obnoxiously heavy bags, and that just won’t do in a typical 9-to-6.
- Pockets, and magic secret compartments … especially one for your cell phone, so that you’re not always doing the crazy I’ve-lost-my-phone-in-my-bag dance.
- Room for a laptop or ipad.
- I also really love the option of a messenger strap – for comfort’s sake.
- Structure. But that’s just personal preference.
- A bit of it factor. If I’m going to endure suits (blech!), I’m at least going to carry one heck of a great bag. Fabulous shoes don’t hurt either.
