Music Festival Style
Posted on April 1, 2013 by Lexi
9 COMMENTSI have long been a music junkie, tracing all the way back to the days of the cassette tape when it was really awesome to make mix tapes all day long. I used to spend hours waiting for my favorite songs to turn up on the radio so I could quickly press record and add to my ever-growing mix-tapes (oh yeah, I feel old now!) I’ve been to smaller, more local music festivals, though never a really huge weekend-long fest …. someday, preferably the kind with standing bathrooms. Though I’m a really feminine dresser, I’d probably stick to a great pair of comfy jeans for a great big music festival, paired with my favorite pair of boots. And I imagine, comfort at a festival is key!
I put together two music-festival appropriate looks for AG … whose jeans, I might add, are so ridiculously soft and feel loved in the best kind of way from the moment you slip them on; a.k.a., denim perfection. Both the AG Stilt Cigarete Roll-Up Jeans and the AG Legging Super Skinny Ankle Jeans that I chose had a destroyed look to them and both had the perfect ankle/crop length, that when you are vertically challenged like me, is a huge (no hemming necessary) bonus. The Stilt Cigarete Roll-Up Jeans felt like the perfect fitted boyfriend jean with a tapered ankle and a bit more length than a typical mid-calf crop, and the Super Skinny Legging Jeans were actually a pair of skinny jeans I had long been coveting – perfect for dress-up or -down.

Spring Style with Timberland
Posted on March 29, 2013 by Lexi
8 COMMENTSOkay, last of my surprises … for the week that is: I’m pretty giddy over this photo shoot (and video!) for Timberland and I am so excited to finally get the chance to share it with you all. I always had this idea of Timberland fitting only for those trekking through the woods, but when a revamped Timberland reached out several weeks ago, sharing their latest products and lookbook, I knew it was love. All of their boots are edgy with feminine touches, and their coats, sweaters, and jackets: preppy perfection.
I styled the Timberland Earthkeepers Rudston Boot in Perforated Suede, the Earthkeepers Bethel Buckle Tall Boot, and the Earthkeepers Apley Boot. I also wore Timberland’s Earthkeepers® Cotton/Cashmere V-Neck Cardigan, the Earthkeepers® Cotton/Cashmere Wrap Cardigan in Vintage Indigo (such a great color), the go-anywhere Earthkeepers® Short Parka (lined with chambray), and the Rudston Waterproof Raincoat (seriously the most perfect, light-weight raincoat … and believe it or not, my very first raincoat!)

Color Brights with T.J. Maxx
Posted on March 28, 2013 by Lexi
6 COMMENTSNext up in my Spring Style Scout series for T.J. Maxx we’re talking color brights and neons: vivid bright colors; coral, tropical inspiration; mixing of solids and bold prints and abstract, lightweight fabrics. Admittedly, I tend to shy away from brighter colors. I stick to black, white, and grey for my wardrobe staples, but I do love mixing in bold pops of color and pattern.

Closet Refresh + Spring Cleaning
Posted on March 27, 2013 by Lexi
11 COMMENTSI recently stumbled upon a great article in Lucky Magazine all about spring cleaning, and I realized (much to my horror), that it had been ages since I had done a major overhaul/purge. And now, with the impending move to a new, and likely smaller place, it seems I may have to get serious about downsizing, organizing, and letting go of the beaded crop tops circa 1999 (yep, it’s that bad.)
I should start by sharing an important detail about the madness that is my storage situation: I am a memory hoarder. I can’t throw anything away. And when I try to throw away, I find myself four hours in, sitting on the floor amidst piles of pictures, Rocket Dogs (yeah 90s shout-out), and his and hers high school class rings (oh yes, hubby and I have been together that long!) So because it’s Spring – and long overdue, and because moving is on the agenda, I’m going to try to tackle the clutter, room by room.
