Some people take the new year to tackle a big diet or fitness regimen, I figure, “I’ll get to that, one day”… but in the meantime, I’m all about tackling home design projects.

This vintage-meets-modern table setting has me re-thinking my own dining room design.

I dream of this kind of organization, especially organization this lovely.

This clean bedroom with a pop of crisp white fur has me plotting the packing-up of half my bedroom knick-knacks (and piles of shoes … I call it “organized chaos”).

Albeit completely impractical in Miami temperatures – I think we get maybe three days of “winter” (a.k.a., sixty degrees) – I can’t stop coveting fur collars and stoles. I love how Old Hollywood glamorous they look, and because they’re detachable, they can be added to any cardigan or coat for easy added luxe.  Plus, in just a few short months I’ll be headed to AltSummit in Salt Lake City (never been to the conference or the city … SO excited!) and I have a feeling I’ll need twelve layers, at least two of which are awesome faux fur.

I’m also loving all of the punchy colors and textures that the fur collars and stoles are being sold in. Such a fun pop to a darker Fall/Winter wardrobe.

Apparently, epic design happens when Sharon Montrose of The Animal Print Shop, Designer/Stylist Morgan Satterfield, and Photographer Laure Joliet get together.  Laure shared a few images from a recent shoot that she and Sharon dreamed up, and my mind is spinning.  How can I incorporate navy and white chevron wallpaper, a vintage salmon dresser, confetti streamers, and fax fur into my own home design?  This room may be a nursery, but it has plenty of grown-up potential too.  It’s just that good.

Fall trend alert: over-sized menswear coats.  Menswear-inspired trends come and go in women’s fashion; some I like, some I’m neutral on. Tailored menswear trousers – always a win. The classic button-down – though fabulous on most women – not particularly flattering on me (I’m convinced I drown in the crisp collar!) Boyfriend jeans – my obsession.

And the over-sized tweed menswear-inspired coat – it’s my latest love. A bit boxy, full of texture and drama, it can be draped over the shoulders or layered to fight against the Fall chill.  I’m this close to snatching up this fabulous menswear coat from the new Topshop for Nordstrom collection — it has a detachable faux fur collar. #win
